Post #9 How The Raven Stole the Light: A Athabaskan Tribe tale

How the Raven Stole the Light
Long ago, when earth was still young in it's creation days, a raven, myself, flew across the world morphing the land and heavens to my liking. During this time I had been discomforted, for my earth had one missing essential element, light. Devastated I searched out a source that could bring my world to life. Then a glimmer caught my eye, a tribe, a chieftain, he had in his hand a mesmerizing orb of glowing spectacular. I could not take my eyes off of it. I needed that light, it was to intense for a puny life form to behold.

Day and night, I watched the tribe and the brilliance of the light. Every night, he would keep it ion a box that was held in his village deep in his hut. The chief was very stubborn and possessive about his gift and even resisted to give it to his people to see. Except his daughter, a woman in leather having dark black hair and beautiful skin. A small smile crossed my beak, I had a marvelous idea how to get the light from the selfish chief.
One day while the maiden was drinking from a stream, I transformed myself into a speck of dirt and drifted into her cup as she dipped it into the stream. She then drank me and found herself pregnant soon after.
I came into the world again, This time as a human baby, except for the feather indication along with my long hooked nose and beaming eyes. The tribe excepted me even with my obscure look.
I was a fussy baby, they quickly found out, as food and water wound not stop me from crying nor attacking anyone who tried to take care of me. I just kept crawling over the the many boxes. They pulled me back, they did not want a child in the possessions of the tribe.

But slowly my wailing and carrying on weaken there minds and made them impatient to quiet my bird like screams. So they handed me one of the box, a small less significant one. To their relief I shut my mouth and played with the box and its contents. After a while I realized that the box was no longer interesting since it did not have the shiny I desperately wanted. So I threw the box aside and fell to my back letting another awe full screech. They all jumped at this and scrambled to give me another box, and I clamped shut and started to examine this one.

This processes continued, the people where frustrated and tired of drag each box to me by the end of the night. My plan was working, their ears could not take another scream and they were exhausted from dragging each container to me.

Finally the boxes disappeared in till the last glowing box was left, they gave it to me with a toss, not bothering to hand it right into my child-like hands. I tear it open and find the glowing light warming my tear wet face. A devilish smile crossed my beak, they all looked at me but could do nothing to prepare for my next move. I morphed into my seek beautiful self, and took the glowing orb in my beak, and took off, through the smoke hole and into the sky.

As my light past over a cliff, where my 'friend' the 'great' golden eagle slept, he woke in a sudden brightness to his eyes. He saw my seek wing swoop past him in a brilliant glow of fire. He screeched and took off after me, racing to caught me in his large tearing talons. I cackle and pick up pace as my eyes reflected the sharp claws. There was no way I would be caught between those daggers. We both climb higher and he slowly is gaining air as his wing pound the air with more surface area then mine. Finally I feel his breath beating down my back and his talons slowly intercepting my back hunches. In a furry of movements I twist away, cawing loud when the light slips from my narrow beak and falls.
The light hots the ground shattering. Pieces hit every inch of the land lighting everything up to make the world visible. A shard finds it's way up to the sky becoming what we call now the sun. Every thing is seen, all my creations are now in perspective. Eagle is amazed and blinded by the radiance, so I slip away unnoticed, escaping successfully. The chief, now angered, rushes out of his tent in a mad rage. But then lies eyes on his daughter. His mouth drops in a gaping matter, he had never known how beautiful she was, how he had been bless all along. So he turns and kisses her forehead letting the anger melt away. Eagle in amazing by this new landscape, he flies the skies looking at every feature, the king of birds looks upon the land.

Ca- What a shame... The light would have been perfect from a view in my nest. If only I would have gotten it there, I could controlled the contrast of darkness fading into light. I returned, and participated in many more adventures forever afterwards.

Image result for Shattering sunlight

In the few moments after I'm freed from the dormant human form, I fly through the open sky with my talons tightly gripping the ball of light. Then the light shining from in my claws sends a light that wakes the sleeping eagle and he swoops at me, as if I am his prey. In a flurry I try to escape, but the sun is released.
Ca- Yes I was Fine thanks for asking.
But when the light hit the earth it shattered across the earth, lighting up the ground sea and people. Every thing becomes beautiful. One slice of the light is stuck in the sky. Now a day, mortals call it the sun.
But Still, I was not able to keep it in my nest, it would be a excellent add to my collection of shinnies.
To bad...

Post #7 Give the Baby a Box!

Image result for raven fire

The climax of this story, I would have to say is when I finally am presented with my prize and I escape into the sky.

During this time I was a baby and a very fussy one. I wanted all the boxes. They gave me what I wanted since it made me shut my beak, so I was able to browse each of their contents. I think this is where I am finally able to lay my claws on the sunlight and transform back into my elegant bird self.

Post #6 A Light for the Dark

A light for the dark.
I was in need of light for my earth, you already know.

Ca- Imagine a world with flowing rivers, tall lush mountain forests, flowers and shrubs every where. Now there is no light to even see your feathers in front of your face...

Now can you see what a waste of time it was to create an entire world just to find out you cannot admire your work in the end.

Disappointing, aye?

The entire conflict was over that the chief of a tribe had light, and I need that light. Now he was to selfish to give it up hiding it away in a box. I would say this guy has no idea what he keeping,  it is only the most precious shiny in all of earth!

Post #5 The Beauty, the Selfish, The Eagle, and the Raven.

My tale of my world gaining it's sunlight has only four main characters Including myself...

Ca-You know of me and my cunning mind and power,
My sharp talons and beak,
and darken  completion.
But I take the shape of a human boy in this story. Even though I am unfeathered and debeaked, I still possess the qualities of the handsome bird I was.

There was a chief, he was known to be protective of her possessions, very selfish, and centered around his tribe. He is what I call the holder of light. He was very happy and kept his precious items in boxes, out of my talons reach.

But most of all, he had a daughter. A girl with much beauty and innocents to the entire scene. Ca- Perfect for my plan!

The last character is Eagle. He is a very very brave and wise bird, or so they say. He claims the right to kingship over all other birds, I beg to differ. But he is quite a forward and powerful bird.
Ca- He is all big squawk and no claw in my opinion.

Post #4 A World in Darkness

Dark times... Ca- Even for myself.

I had created a perfect world. It has given me much pride to create it. Yes it was a bit dark before I restored it to it's bright brilliant beauty.

Man had roamed on the earth for quiet some time, enjoying my refreshing rivers and walking on the ground of the wing crafted ground. Now it was dark, everyone relied on touch and sound over sight.
The forests were that of pine, built sturdy and tall, the smell was breathtaking. The vegetation and plants grew thick past your knees and the river was refreshing. But they could never "feast their eyes" on the beauty that I had created.

You might think that I would not be one to overlook this, but it was different then. I was just to excited that I had created such a perfect Earth.

It took me a while to see the flaw. After bashing into trees and losing enough feathers to dark objects in my way during flight. I wanted it to have light, a source to put a stop of tripping over myself. Well, eventually I was able to steal the shiny I had to placed in the sky.

Quoth the Raven, Never More.

 Sound familiar?

Awe Yes... I have showed an appearance in much of human literature. Since my qualities and unworldly  and my characteristic are dark and mysterious. I have been portrayed to many mortals as a bird of death. I signal the the time of passing and I carry the dark truth on my wings everywhere I go. One of the most famous is the poems I am in is 'The Raven by' Edger Allen Poe. Here he asks for guidance and hope of what will become of his sad life. But my response is only the cold truth. Nevermore...

Ca- My song is heard through out the land, it tells of whoa and sorrows upon or yet to come.

Aiding an Evil Queen?

I prefer to work alone, mortals are just to gullible- Ca

In a German tale I work along side a wicked queen who is  working to get rid of a maiden more fair.

Do I sense jealousy?

My main purpose it to be more of a pet, or familiar, and animal that posses magic/ powers and communicates with a magic, human partner. But in this case I am characterized as a symbol of the characters antihero personality.

Lastly I am seen as fashion in this last film. 'Lone Ranger'

I never saw myself as a head dress-Ca

But I am worn as tribal had gear often and some of my characteristics reflect the character that wears me. For I am seen as a cocky now it all bird and sometime those traits are brought out to repersent another person, here it is Tonto.
